We are in our last 2 months of school. Be sure to check our dates to remember for all of the activities that will be happening.
We look forward to seeing you at our upcoming events and as always, thank you for supporting our school!
Lock Down/ Intruder Practice Drills
Over the past year, staff, parents, and Law Enforcement have been developing Curtis Creek's Lock Down/ Intruder Procedure. The procedure has been reviewed with staff, neighboring businesses, and the Sheriff's Department.
In light of the on-going horrific events which keep occurring in schools across the country, this awareness is an extremely important topic. In the next several days, teachers will be going over basic Lock Down procedures with their students. Later next week several Sheriffs, along with officially trained ALICE trainers (three of our own staff), will be visiting all of the classrooms to discuss the particular classroom procedures that are in place.
Primary teachers will also be reading the children's book, "I'm Not Scared - I'm Prepared" to their students. These emergency drills are in place for the students' safety. Just like Fire Drills, Earthquake Drills, Bus Evacuation Drills, practicing the drills make the procedures a common practice for all.
The concrete pours scheduled for Thursday, May 3rd and Friday, May 11th have been rescheduled for Monday, May 7th and Thursday, May 10th.
No cars will be allowed to park in the lower parking lot on May 7th and May 10th. Students may be dropped off as usual until 8:15 - but no cars will be allowed to park in the lower parking lot. We are hoping the pour will be completed before our 2:15 dismissal. If not, we will let everyone know.
The Scholastic Book Fair is Coming Soon!!
The book fair will be held May 14th-18th in room B1. More information about the Book Fair will be sent home with students.
It is most important that each year policies and procedures for volunteers/chaperones are revisited. All volunteers/chaperones must attend a training before volunteering in the classroom or chaperoning on a field trip. The last volunteer/chaperone training of the year is scheduled for 8:00 a.m. on Thursday, May 17th in the Curtis Creek School District Board room.
8th Grade Graduation Information
Our final days are busy ones. Below is a summary of upcoming activities scheduled for 8th grade students who have met eligibility requirements to participate in the promotion/commencement ceremony:
